Splash Down Raft
April 4th, 2009
Worton Creek Maryland Marina
The crews of Aquila, Carpe Ventum, Narsilion, Paisano, Silent Running, Windsprint gathered on Silent Running (at Maryland Marina) to kick off the new sailing season.
It was standing room only. Originally scheduled for Worton Creek, the 40 knot winds and gale warning made the raft captain, and others, reluctant to leave the slip on Saturday. So, a change of venue was communicated.
After the usual socializing, we shared a meal beef stew and many other shared dishes. Once again, we had a peep jousting tournament (thanks to Marie for the original idea about that a few years ago..). New and devious ways to make them kill each other were devised, including a four way joust. It occurred without incident this year as we used paper plates.
The festivities continued until about 22:00 when the raft split up and everyone returned to their own boats.
There was actually some sailing this weekend. Silent Running ventured out on Sunday to do a short shake down cruise and top off the fuel tank after it's long winter nap.
